We invite dancers and dance students ages 18-years and up to spend a semester with us at our company’s home at the International Dance Village in Kibbutz Ga’aton, Israel and take part in our 5-moth pre-professional Dance Journey study program which begins each February and September.  The program offers dance students from across the world, an unparalleled opportunity to engage in some of the best professional and academic dance training while studying with and living among some of the best teachers, choreographers, and dancers from one of the leading dance companies in the world.

ELIGIBILITY & CURRICULUM
Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company’s Dance Journey program is perfect for dancers and dance students from across the world who are looking for a top-level pre-professional dance program in order to advance their future career as a professional dancer.  The program provides an excellent stepping stone and platform to advance on a highly-professional caliber with the goal to take you to the next level.  Participants of the program are either in their gap year between high school and university, currently pursuing a B.A. or B.F.A. degree in dance, in the midst of a dance academy program, have graduated from such a program, or have not studied dance in a secondary education level and are seeking a springboard into a career in dance.  The program also allows dancers to spend the semester studying dance abroad in Israel which continues to be one of the leading regions and forces in the international contemporary dance scene and where some of the best professional networking and connections can take place.  Dancers who are currently enrolled in a university dance program or dance academy can also earn course accreditation while studying with us.  The curriculum of the program is heavily focused on contemporary and modern dance along with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company repertoire, but at the same time participants generally warm up with ballet daily and work with teachers, choreographers, and company dancers who offer a multitude of classes and diversity between choreography, floorwork, Gaga, improvisation, and much more.

A significant part of the Dance Journey program is a project known in Hebrew as ‘Netzitzot‘ (Hebrew for ‘Sparks‘) where the program’s participants create original work to be presented towards the end of the semester on the stage of the Zichri Theater in the International Dance Village.  Throughout the semester, our professional staff provides you with all the necessary support in this original creation process

AUDITIONS & ENROLLMENT
Acceptance to the program is by audition only and dance students may audition by either sending us an online audition video (see below) or by attending an upcoming audition. We generally hold auditions annually in London, Amsterdam, and Berlin in the early spring and in New York City and North America in the fall. But as the program is in high demand, we recommend that you send us an audition video right away, especially if you are keen on joining the upcoming program.   The program is based on a rolling admission meaning that it’s on a first come first serve basis.   Each semester/program can only host a maximum of 38 dancers and therefore once the program is full, we open up a waiting list.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?
Included in the program fee are your accommodation, health insurance, field trips throughout Israel, Hebrew language classes, volunteering opportunities in the community, and the registration fee. The field trips include amazing trips to the Dead Sea (the lowest place on earth!), the Old City of Jerusalem, Masada, rafting on the Jordan River, camel riding in the Negev Desert, and much more!

WHERE DOES IT TAKE PLACE?
The program takes places at the company’s home at the world-renowned International Dance Village in the historic Galilee region of northern Israel in Kibbutz Ga’aton; overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
