Oryan Yohanan

Ballet, Modern, Repertoire

A graduate of The Jerusalem Academy for Music and Dance High School. Awarded first prize at the Mia Arbatova Ballet Competition.

Danced in Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company from 2006-2010 as a principal dancer under the Artistic Direction of Rami Be’er.  In 2010-2011 she danced in ‘The Project’ Company of the Israeli Opera House and The Suzanne Dellal Center as the main dancer with pieces by William Forsythe, Emanuel Gat, Jacopo Godani, Marco Goecke, Idan Sharabi and Yoram Karmi.

Since 2011 Oryan has worked as a freelance dancer with choreographers Sahar Azimi, Idit Herman and Clipa Theatre, Gili Navot, Shlomi Bitton, Dafi Altbeb, Sharon Vaisvaser, Maya Yogel, Elad Shecter, Yoni Soutchy and others. In 2014 Oryan was awarded the Ministry of Culture and Sport’s prize for Performing Dancer of the Year.

As a choreographer, Oryan created the pieces: ‘Missis’ (2007), ‘Sea-Land’ (2013), ‘The War Room’ (2013) and ‘No Blood Relation.ever’ (2014), and ‘The Being Herd’ (2015). Her new solo creation ‘Plot of Body’ will premiere in July at The Dance Arena Festival in Jerusalem.

Oryan is a multi-disciplinary artist, improvisation performer and rehearsal manager.  She teaches Ballet, contemporary, floor work and repertoire.
