A native of Brooklyn, New York, and currently based in Haarlem, The Netherlands, Yoni Avital is a multifaceted Performing Artist, Arts Manager, and the founder of Avital Arts Agency, a prominent performing arts management firm based in The Netherlands. Yoni is the leader and lead singer of The Shuk Music Group, one of the premier Jewish and Israeli music groups based in New York City and Tel Aviv. Yoni founded and manages the group, which performs Jewish Roots and Israeli world music on stages at theaters, festivals, and private events worldwide, bringing diverse cultures together through music.
Yoni oversees the international marketing and operations of Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (KCDC), one of Israel’s leading contemporary dance companies. His work encompasses managing the main company’s performances and tours around the globe, as well as spearheading international public relations, social media, and website management. Yoni is also responsible for promoting KCDC’s signature educational programs, including the internationally renowned 5-month Dance Journey study abroad program and the Kibbutz Summer Intensive, which takes place annually at the company’s home at the International Dance Village in Israel.
In addition to his marketing and operational responsibilities, Yoni oversees KCDC’s international fundraising and resource development efforts. He works to ensure the company’s endeavors in bringing elite contemporary dance to audiences worldwide, providing support for young and aspiring dancers through scholarships to seek professional dance education in KCDC’s international dance programs, and sustaining the operations and development of all the company’s programming and activities at the International Dance Village and across Israel.
Yoni holds a B.A. in Clinical Psychology and Music from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and an MBA from Haifa University’s International Executive MBA program. His passion for dance was ignited by his wife, Dorry Aben, a former KCDC company dancer and now a naturalistic therapist. Before relocating to The Netherlands, Yoni’s life journey included growing up in a moshav (agricultural village) in central Israel, living in Brooklyn, and spending several transformative years at the International Dance Village in Kibbutz Ga’aton, Israel, which is home to Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company.
Driven by a profound belief in the power of the performing arts to unite people from all walks of life, Yoni is committed to using dance, music, and education as a means of bridging divides and fostering understanding in today’s increasingly polarized world. His work as both a performing artist and as an international arts manager reflects this vision and underscores his dedication to bringing people together through the transformative power of performance.
