In my final summer before graduating with a B.F.A. in dance, I knew I wanted not only to push myself artistically, but to expose myself to new people, places and perspectives, as well. I have always admired Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (KCDC) as a company, and was thrilled at the opportunity to learn repertoire and immerse myself in such a unique community!

Living at the company’s home at the International Dance Village is a lot of fun! I met dancers from China, The Netherlands, Kenya, Switzerland, and, of course, Israel! It was a great opportunity to learn about other cultures, pick up some new languages, and realize how truly universal dance is.

I quickly felt at home on the kibbutz. The staff, teachers, and fellow dancers were all very welcoming! While we each came from different countries, we all experienced the same challenges adjusting to our new environment, which allowed us to connect with each other easily.

I loved immersing myself in the KCDC style of movement, experiencing Israeli culture and food (the best hummus I’ve ever had!), and growing as an artist with new friends from around the world.
