After each season of our Summer Intensive has passed, we love nothing more than to hear the wonderful stories from our alumni from across the world. We asked our incredible dance students to share with us their challenges and triumphs, fond memories and daily routines while living on the International Dance Village in Kibbutz Ga’aton in Northern Israel during our most-recent Summer Intensive.

Sharing their stories with us today are Daisy Ewing from Adelaide, Australia, and Lil Aronoff from New York City. They both enjoyed truly unique and personal experiences.

Daisy shares her daily routine at the International Dance Village: “It began with breakfast, plenty of beautiful, healthy Israeli food, then a short break before the first class of the day. We attended four classes a day, each 90 minutes in length and it was…intensive! I loved it. At the end of the day, we often went for a dip in the pool to cool down, and take care of our hard-worked bodies.

We pride ourselves on having an extensive, diverse, and comprehensive weekly schedule at the summer camp – including various dance classes, from company repertoire to ballet to modern to choreography and other exciting dance workshops with some of the best teachers and choreographers around.  The Summer Intensive also includes cultural day trips to historic regions in Israel.  Lil says she had “heard only incredible feedback from peers” and continues, “Everyone who I talked to about the Summer Intensive program assured me that the experience was truly life-changing mentally and physically, and I can now see why!  Attending was one of the greatest decisions I made to further my development as an artist and a human.”

This is the very reason why we’re thrilled year in and year out – being able to host the diverse and highly talented student dancers from across the globe like Daisy and Lil.  We are already counting down the days until our 2019 Summer Intensive commences.  Come July, we look forward to welcoming new dancers from around the world.

Thanks for being a part of the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance family!
